PDX Bus is an award-winning application that provides real-time arrival times for public transportation in Portland, Oregon. This app was the recipient of the prestigious Best in Show award at the CivicApps.org awards.

By leveraging TriMet's live tracking data, PDX Bus delivers accurate and up-to-date arrival times specifically optimized for the iPhone. Users have the option to bookmark frequently used stops, access recently accessed stops, and view details of en-route arrivals.

The app offers a range of features, including interactive rail maps that highlight MAX, WES, and Streetcar stops. It also provides embedded maps displaying the locations of stops and, when available, the last known position of buses or trains. Users can utilize GPS functionality to locate nearby stops or rail stations and easily browse routes and stops, with the ability to view an entire route on the map. Furthermore, PDX Bus includes links to TriMet route information, displays Rider Alerts and Detours, and features a "Nighttime Visibility Flasher" that can be used to make oneself visible to bus drivers in low-light conditions. Additionally, the app offers trip planning capabilities that mirror those available on TriMet's website and incorporates specially formatted text compatible with the iPhone 3GS VoiceOver accessibility feature to speak arrival times. Lastly, PDX Bus includes a QR code reader for scanning codes at bus stops and stations.

Furthermore, it should be highlighted that this free application was developed as a volunteer effort to serve TriMet riders, with no affiliation to either TriMet or Apple.
